a while back I had an idea that instead of trying to get people in the neighborhood to get rain barrels (which most people around here don't have a use for) we should be encouraging them to make drywells and rain gardens and aggressively interpenetrating rainfall back into the groundwater supply

large homes the county has already shown to be the principal cause of pervious surface and tree loss in residential areas. In fact, many tools to increase porosity of lots, such as drywells and pervious pavers -- preclude tree planting.

A vehicle collision in Quarryville sheared a utility pole, prompting a response from fire crews. Traffic was briefly reduced to one lane on Route 472 while the scene was secured.
Crews respond to accident that knocked down utility pole on Route 472
A truck went off the road and crashed into a utility pole in Quarryville on Thursday afternoon. Quarryville Fire Company responded to the accident at Route 472 and Drywells Road in Eden Township, according to a Facebook post. The fire company said it was alerted to the accident around 1:14 p.m. The company said the utility pole was sheared and supported by the truck. Fire police one-laned traffic while responding to the scene. There is no injury information available at this time.
