What a shame to lose an institution like Dukem! But thankfully the Ethiopian restaurant scene in and around DC is still thriving. There are so many amazing places I haven’t even tried yet.

Dukem is closing on U Street November 7th after nearly 30 years (25 years as a full service restaurant).
1st place I had Ethiopian food in DC in 2005 or so. There was a surge of viral interest in them in 2024 after daughter posted a TikTok about their struggles
