Gisteren beetje "off patch" gevogeld. Wilde al langer een rondje Texel lopen. Mooie tocht van 62,1 km met leuke soorten als Strandleeuwerik, Frater, Blauwe Kiekendief enz.

Rather quiet in the patch this morning, but a walk in the forest (sheltering for a cold easterly) produced a soft drumming female Lesser Spotted WP as #76 for the year list and a nice view of a silent male Black WP. Better than hanging out on the couch! #Patchbirding #DutchPatchworkChallenge

2024 patch birding (2km2 islet in the Meuse w/in Rotterdam city beneath a highway) was yet again brilliant with 124 species incl. jack snipe, kittiwake, red kite, HB, rf falcon, crane, YBW & 3 serin! Patch list now on 144 (since 2020). Bring it! #dutchpatchworkchallenge @patchbirding.bsky.social

3 stock dove checking nesting locations on patch a good count. Just before leaving I noticed 1 of 2 geese flying over looked decidedly smaller than thr other: a pink-footed goose! 3rd patch record and foy for #dwpc2025 (53/120) @patchbirding.bsky.social @waarneming.nl ##DutchPatchworkChallenge

Another foggy day in the Netherlands with most of the country covered with a dense grey veil. Nevertheless, the patch delivered 3 year ticks: a nice male Goosander, a Little Grebe and Common Snipe. #DutchPatchworkChallenge

Nice 4h stroll through the woods to add some year ticks to the local patch list of Hoogekampse Plas & Beukenburg, De Bilt for #DutchPatchworkChallenge with a.o. Middle Spotted and Black Woodpecker, Woodlark, Hawfinch, Crested and Marsh Tit. Now at 58 species for the year.

Another of the many advantages of local #patchbirding: even in dense fog it is still possible to have a glorious outdoor moment. After one hour bush wacking I found my Woodcock for the patch year list, nice and satisfying! #DutchPatchworkChallenge
