Today’s #patchbirding walk was out to the Hothfield waterbodies. On route I finally spotted 2 Egrets with the cattle on rural Godinton Park; sadly they were Littles [later they roosted at the Waterfall Lake]. Stonechat pair, Yellowhammers, Mipits & Skylarks at the flood gap. Nice sunset too.

Yesterday I found a lesser whitethroat on patch, Kilmory Isle of Rum. The possibility has been raised it could be one of the eastern sub-species so here are the best pics. Will also post a short video of it #RareBirdsUK #Patchbirding

1st Nov. OTD four years ago. After the disappointment in the morning of losing a swift sp about a mile out over the sea in the middle of a massive Pallid influx, redemption wasn't too far away.
The afternoon dog walk saw a quick "get back" down the patch, and celebration.......

#Patchbirding. My first visit since returning from the Norfolk holiday. It was proving to be a quiet one & then at dusk it came alive. A WOODCOCK flew along the river Stour on rural Godinton Park !!! Year ✅ #103. Also both Barn Owls were out hunting + calling Tawny & Little Owls.

This PM’s #patchbirding walk around Singleton Lake & rural Godinton Park. A Cetti’s Warbler showed nicely at the Buxford Meadows pond, only my 2nd this year (there is the Hothfield Waterfall Lake bird occasionally singing/calling), but this is the first ‘seen’ in 2026. Slowly expanding their range…
