#EBikeSummer
My ebike is in garage-jail this week as I can't access my garage due to parking lot resealing. I'm not leaving it out and don't want to deal with 3 flights of stairs as alternatives. I only got it in April, but I'm basically going crazy knowing I'm stuck with my car instead. #ebikesummer

#eBikeSummer is real. And not only in cities that offer e-bike rebates. This is the nationwide search trend over the past 5 years.

"Daniel Eisner is one of the people who received an e-bike rebate this summer. He told the Mercury that since he got his electric cargo bike earlier this summer, he’s barely used his car."
E-Bike Town - Portland Mercury
Earlier this summer, Sabrina Taylor picked up her new electric bike, purchased with a rebate through the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund’s (PCEF) new e-bike incentive program. Not long a...

Rode to work on my ebike for the first time today and it. was. awesome. #ebikeSummer

Some #carryshitolympics from yesterday as I loaded out of the Powderhorn Art Fair. Pulling an industrial embroidery machine, stock, tent, and display stuff on a 5' long Bikes at Work trailer, about 400lbs. Felt like the smuggest bitch biking by dozens of cars lined up and idling waiting to load out

Hot #eBikeSummer continues! We road to Heights Coffee Bar for iced lattes on their patio and then back home again via the newly reconstructed 44th Avenue NE bridge and I’m a real big fan of the new protected mixed use trail connecting Main St. NE to East River Road. 🚲❤️

I might tone down #ebikesummer ever so slightly for the remainder....

#Ebikes are car replacers!! I’ve ridden 1000+ miles locally in two years of having an e-bike!

We actually sold a car because we used it so rarely.

PLUS - and this is a BIG plus

#Ebikes = JOY! 💙🚲💙
E-bikes, scooters, and mopeds are reducing more demand for oil than electric vehicles!

Always wear a helmet and don’t forget to pressure your local government for protected bike lanes!

Way to prove that it really is #EbikeSummer ☀️, PDX! 💙🚲💙
Dispatches from the big ebike event in Portland - the range of ages, abilities, and bike styles really emphasizes the transformative power of e-bikes. I saw someone biking in with a cane in her basket. Don’t let anybody tell you this isn’t a viable path to sustainable transportation.

One underrated benefit of #ebikesummer in Minneapolis is skipping the Aldi-parking-lot chaos.

I gotta say:

Hot summer morning bike ride to the Farmer's Market & coming home to a plate of cucumber sandwiches & a strawberry THC drink is an A+ experience

Idyllic Sunday morning ride aside from the smoky haze & AQI.

Lovely, diverse, intergenerational market crowd; spent at a few Asian-owned farm stands; iced coffee from the Guatemalan family who both farms & roasts; ran into 2 friends at the co-op & waved to 2 neighbors on the ride home.

N95ed for #eBikeSummer to Kingfield Farmer's Market this AM since we needed a few things, & I've been cooped up, & my bike has been out of commission.
(🙏🏻 Venture Bikes!)

Shout-out to the pal in a Gritty 4 Seasons Total Landscaping shirt.

Gorgeous flowers, & ran into 2 friends at the co-op!

People buy #Ebikes as a JOYFUL car replacer.

#EbikeSummer ☀️
People do not buy ebikes because they are happy to spend thousands more than they would on a regular bike.

People buy ebikes because they save thousands compared to the car journeys they replace.

That is the key distinction that many policy makers the general public miss or don’t understand.

One week into e-bike dad summer I’ve only driven my car once, when I had to go to Edina
We're in the midst of a transportation revolution.

A 15-year study of bike lanes shows that they have no negative impact on business. Neighborhoods that embraced bike lanes showed a measurable increase in foot traffic.

My local city councilmember rode an e-bike in our 4th of July parade instead of riding in a car and we decorated our bikes and rode along! We were a big hit! Turns out you can interact with constituents a lot better on a bike than you can rolling by in a car!

Do your errands on an #Ebike.

More JOY.
No traffic.
Better exercise.
Free parking.
No gas!

I love seeing more coverage of cargo bikes in mainstream media!

I got to chat with Signe as she was working on this piece AND she/Wirecutrer donated 4 bikes to @mcbl.bike after! We’re so grateful.

That being said, IMO this review has some great info but I have just a few nitpicks…

“In London cyclists now outnumber cars in the City by 2 to 1. Paris, where they now outnumber motorists across the whole city, is catching up with Europe’s traditional bike capitals, Amsterdam & Copenhagen…In Copenhagen, bikes account for almost half of commuter trips to work/school.” @economist.com

Welcome to #EbikeSummer! ☀️
Fun fact: because BOTH of my cars broke down, I finally broke down, got a loan, and bought an ebike

AND LET ME TELL YOU, THIS IS THE BEST PURCHASE I'VE EVER MADE

I wish I'd done this sooner. I feel like my commute to work actually means something now. Anyway her name is Bluey

Nice ride from St Paul on Gateway Trail until about a mile from Stillwater, a big tree had fallen recently blocking the path. Tons of folks carrying their bikes over but we decided the Universe was telling us to head back. #ebikesummer

Exactly right:
#Ebikes are a MASSIVE quality of life upgrade.
I gotta tell you: I was at this same point before I got mine a month ago, but an ebike is such a quality of life upgrade from walking in sweaty hot humid weather that even if you only use it to roll slowly on sidewalks you will likely get huge value out of it. Infrastructure is slowly improving too

15 months ago Type 2 Diabetes Diagnosis. GP told me 3 things to address; exercise, diet, medication. 2 of them down to me. Took it seriously; got myself E-bike:

TODAY

7835 miles completed on bike-minimum 120 miles per week
Numbers back in the normal range
3 stone lost (42 pounds)

Love my bike 👍
