A most interesting development.

Section 194 of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA) creates the power uk strike out a civil claim where its purpose is deemed to be a SLAPP (defined in section 195). /1

One of the ways I've really enjoyed ECCTA work has been that you do basically end up red teaming your own clients.
Interestingly, when I do training on financial crime and fraud prevention I often have to emphasize that you should not apply this rule to those teams, as fraudsters are very good at exploiting other people's niceness and social conventions against direct confrontation.
I always had this rule when hiring. However smart or impressive someone seems, if they seem like a bit of a dick it's not worth hiring them.

I had deliberate tests, like how they treated admin staff.

Why do DHL Express drivers always tell lies about “we rang but no answer”. There is literally video evidence you did not.

After 1 September 2025, this will potentially be a criminal offence under section 199 of ECCTA.

Vehicles for investment fraud and/or pump and dump?

Either way, while we do not expect Companies House to identify every fraudulent entity, some of the more “inconsistent” ones need greater attention. Let’s see if the ECCTA 2024 makes any difference.
We published a report on Saturday on Avis Capital Limited. It claims to be a "bank" and to have £58bn of net assets and 150,000 employees. But none of that is true; it filed fake accounts as part of what we believe was an international fraud. https://buff.ly/40Uh4xb
