Its worth me working. In terms of my own capacity, well being. I love my job but pay is appalling. Juggling it all around managing eotas for my complex child, plus supporting 2 other teens, one who also has an EHCP. Plus admin, dealing with social care etc. But financially & for MH I need something

I have experienced school saying no & my LA specifically used the words there is no formal diagnosis in their tribunal argunents. There was by time we got to tribunal but in the meantime I quoted SENcop & their own policy which states diagnosis not required for SEN support or EHCP. It undoubtedly

Yr 3, and has 'extra' transition ie a 15 min meet & greet x 2. Which I said wasnt enough. The yr 1 EP detailed the need for lots of support, including enhanced transitition but it wasnt implemented. Yr3 we got EHCP but placement already failing by this point. Part time timetable. School insisted

I now employ 3 PAs to support/br responsible adult for my childs EOTAs which is 2 to 1 tutors at home. Our PAs also do social care provision as well as education as per EHCP. It has enabled me to work 13 hrs a week. But as a solo parent, working as a TA in a conplex needs school I am questioning if

Understand what an #EHCP is & why you, your child or a YP you support might be entitled to an education & health care needs assessment (EHCNA). Despite govt & media noise re #SEND, the law hasn’t changed. The legal threshold for an EHCNA request is:

1. YP *may* have SEN

Free, and you don't send me a single document: paste the date printed on your EHCP decision letter (the one the council sent you) and I'll tell you whether the tribunal clock has run out, and how long is left if it hasn't. Ten seconds. Nothing confidential in a date.

Now you are asking. In yr1 he had EP assessment, but they didnt apply for EHCPuntil v end of yr2. Transfered to juniors (2 schools linked as a federation) & he had a poor ILP for yr3. At this point they spent months saying they had to wait for EP assessment as part of EHCP. He was on SEN register

There was a show. It did not debunk anything.
Schools have always opened and closed. The show failed to distinguish between small specialist SEN schools (unaffected as LA pays fees through EHCP) which are growing in number and mainstream schools which are closing.
The former masked the latter.

Next EHCP annual review is due while the appeal process about the last one has begun. This is ridiculous! And this is normal, so I hear!!!!!!

“Parents of autistic boy, 5, battle for school” A taste of things to come, except the child probably won’t have an EHCP if the LA thinks his needs can be met in mainstream—from where he’ll likely be excluded or become traumatised. Then what?

It would be good if teachers felt empowered to make zero- or low-cost reasonable adjustments without making exhausted families drag schs through the EHCP process. Maybe the designation of SLT/OT as ‘experts’ will help schs feel OK to make communication/sensory etc RAs more readily 🤷‍♀️
