it's not pedantic, i don't think. it further highlights how whiteness works and how absurd her elevation to EIC is.
Not to be a pedant but Bari Weiss was a junior editor who occasionally wrote opinion pieces in the opinion section, not a columnist.

It’s hard to judge such things but the firing of the Stars and Stripes EIC is a huge scandal, or should be.
Last month, the Pentagon fired the publisher and editor-in-chief of Stars and Stripes. Two opposite headlines this morning show the results were swift.
