Something I consider a defining characteristic of my generation which is very rarely discussed is sneakily watching a softcore porno on cable after your parents go to sleep and right after you see boobs for the first time they cut to a scene where it turns out Adam West is also in the movie.

Inside the lovely Emax 1000 - from US (Santa Cruz, CA) company: E-mu - the sampler of choice of many an industrial/synth/new wave band including Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, and more. Spot the RamBird pcb art and the analog SSM2047 filter ICs.

For us older people Max just reminds us of Cinemax. So it was a pretty dumb move from the get go. Although sometimes HBO does feel a bit like the old “Skin-emax“. So maybe that’s what they were going for.

1,000回転ごとのステップダイヤルなんだけど、3,000まで回すこともめったにないくらいで、最低回転数の1,000回転でプラ相手はほとんどなんでもできる。
無段階調節を謳うモデルがあるけど、あれはせっかく見つけたスイートスポット（最適な回転数）をじつは二度と再現できない。

(note: i'm pretty sure in TWIG + down in it + the only time, one note of the original patch was likely sampled into the EMAX and then possibly resampled at an even lower rate to give it more real bit-crunch than a ringmod can emulate)
