Unexpected homelab win: 5 years ago I got a Raspberry Pi 4 CM with an SSD board and enclosure from Kubesail. I really just wanted a Pi + SSD, not k8s, so it sat in a drawer unused. Turns out you just need to boot off the EMMC and can mount the SSD to `/` and it works like a charm. Bonus: 8gb of RAM!

Pushing the number for UFS storage speed, number for phone video fps and resolution, and for picture pixels, but all of that is supposed to stay forever into the eMMC in-device trapped without fast transfer that we have had as open standard USB4 since 2019

really should rather prepare for the inevitable eventual death of my tably with some data backups because i already got a file corrupted today... i know these emmc chips now... reminder for y'all also to data backup!! ⚠️

this switch ended up being a little troublesome... I found it had a failing EMMC when the system format stalled out. fortunately it was only write failing, and I was able to back it up and restore it to a replacement EMMC. it formatted properly after that, and is now stress testing in splatoon 2 🦊👍
