#EchoLocation
Did a digital painting of my raptorsona in her world at night. She’s likely searching for small prey (as her echolocation vision is stronger in the dark- she’s canonically ‘blind’ but does have her own way of seeing)

Kyouko does this thing called "echolocation".
It's where she echoes something, and she's at a location.

Some bats have elaborate faces with intricately shaped “nose leaves”. Scientists have discovered that these features help them "see" in the dark by better directing their echolocation calls.

than relying solely on echolocation.

If they're in total darkness they really should be using they batlike powers and engaging their echolocation skills. #Ghostwatch #FrightClub

Forgive me for not knowing, but whoa, I can really hear them! It's not "magically silent echolocation"!

7/15 The sponges they use are mainly Echinodictyum mesenterinum, probably because of their conical shape. But these sponges also alter their sonar, amplifying it (although we don't know whether this makes echolocation more difficult)

Sure. Next time I'll blindfold you and you'll need to follow me by the bell ringing or by echolocation like a good bat. :{

It can happen when there are disruptions with echolocation. 😂🦇🐾

apparently if you get a bad enough light sensitivity during a migraine, you can see outlines of objects with your eyes closed by scanning which parts of your “vision” hurt more or less, like some kind of pain-based echolocation. if this persists i’ll need to learn to live like brock pokémon

My contribution builds on Bruce’s insights into “sounding space” - think echolocation - and about how poets are a bit like bats (a bit batty?), and how the concepts of sounding and sacred space interact in Herbert’s poetry: sonance-ojs-azsu.tdl.org/sonance/arti...

Too bad, I see through echolocation so uhhh, skill issue!

They use high-pitched sounds for echolocation, which bounce off objects to create a sonic map of their surroundings.

Bats navigate in the dark, while dolphins & whales find prey in murky waters via specific changes in a set of 18 genes involved in the cochlear ganglion (i.e. a group of nerves that transmit sound from the ear to the brain): genetic similarities between terrestrial & marine species' echolocation.

Bats are divided into two main groups: microbats and megabats. Most bats are microbats, which are the ones that use echolocation. Megabats are the larger bats that are fruit-eaters and use their strong sense of smell to find food rather than echolocation.

One of my guys does that constantly & I assume it’s his form of echolocation, just trying to suss out where everyone is & making sure we know where he is.

Some of them might also be fruit korbats for all I know lol. Maybe it depends on how far removed your family is from the Haunted Woods? But they have traits that peg them closer to an insectivorous bat (small beady eyes, vampire teeth, large ears for echolocation).
