There's No Such Thing As A Free Ballroom.

ECON 101
listen to this. If a guy at the end of the bar starting slurring like this at you, you'd slink away. It's insane that we have elected this twice to the top office in our land. it's totally unexplainable to children. believe me I've tried.

This can be legislated out of existence. We have legislators, laws & institutions for making new ones. But technological exceptionalism—the idea that digital tech is so vital to our econ & welfare that regulating it is to our detriment—has become so entrenched that citizens forget we have this power
This is legit one of the most dystopian things I've ever read, and I could literally feel the hope leaving my body as I read it. We cannot allow this type of technology to be wide-spread, it has to be legislated into the ground.

From an international affairs/political econ perspective, he'll probably be pretty damn consequential
Something underpriced in The Discourse (and I include myself here) is that Trump ends up as consequential a President as Grover Cleveland in history.

The inability for the political media not only to report on these stories like they are huge scandals for the DOJ (which they are) but also to contextualize other things happening at DOJ in light of them really gives the game away bsky.app/profile/econ...
This is not on the NYT front page right now but a headline about trump going after voting fraud is
in a different media environment this would be considered one of the 3 or 4 biggest scandals in DOJ history but the one we're actually in it rates lower than the Barack Obama Cheesecake Factory joke in terms of the amount of coverage it will receive.

bingo. anyway in this essay I will highlight how capitalism and econ culture has bled into sports media such that assets are valued over material reality
Fans and teams continually overvalue draft picks.

Two giants in econ died last week: Jim Andreoni & Bill Nordhaus. Both spent their careers on one of the hardest problems in economics: getting people to cooperate & contribute to public goods. Jim focused on individuals, & Bill focused on nations with climate change.

How to describe to normal people how wicked awesome it is that an Ontario housing and econ podcast landed one of the world's foremost Shoupistas
When people talk about what's more important, housing for cars or housing for people, that's not an abstract trade-off. It's a very real one. Henry Grabar & Cara Stern discuss his excellent book, Paved Paradise: How Parking Explains the World.

Good morning.

The revaluation of risk across tech is not necessarily about one company’s earnings.

Rather it’s about a shift in the industry’s big players from a capital light, low debt, strong cash flow to a capital intensive, large debt & in some cases negative cash flow model. #Econ #EconSky
