Emergent Tokyo is an excellent book. It was the subject of a recent Econ Talk podcast, too.

I’m listening to Haviv’s interview on Econtalk right now and it’s so very good.

Great episode.

Particularly hearing Americans surprised that the US way of doing things isn't universal

He seemed a bit off for a long time. He lost his temper during an Econtalk episode like 10 years ago, for example.

All time great episode of EconTalk with Russ Roberts and Alain Bertaud talking about Alain's work diagnosing and treating urban problems and Russ extolling the virtues of car-free living: www.econtalk.org/fixing-sick-...

Thomas Piketty made a version of this argument on the Econtalk podcast in 2014. I remember being not entirely convinced at the time but in retrospect he was obviously correct.

There's a *very early* (2008!?) episode of EconTalk where Russ talks to a car dealership's sales manager.

You will be transfixed by the conversation.

I know there aren't technically levels of uniqueness, but there's nothing else in the catalog quite like it.

A life hack that has served me well is to cancel subscriptions to podcasts that interview Tim Ferris.

So goodbye EconTalk. You've been a favourite for many years. But I really don't care to listen to advice about how to manage being a celebrity by using AI.

Russ Roberts’ “Econ Talk” is one of the most interesting podcasts.

This episode with @davidbessis.bsky.social is truly fascinating.

It got me thinking we should train students to think of research as “a dialogue between intuition and evidence.”
