Amanda Truelove (she/her) Elementary H&PE Educator Jason Stumpf, he/him Elementary H&PE Teacher Jen Powles (she/her) Secondary H&PE Teacher, Retired #EducatorsInAction “Wallet Wellness is a fantastic, cross-curricular financial literacy resource, integrating Health & Physical Education, Math, and Language curriculum in ready to go lessons to deepen students' knowledge and understanding of financial basics in order to successfully navigate today's complex financial world. The Wallet Wellness "What's On Your Menu" activity aligns perfectly with our Healthy Eating Unit, providing students with the opportunity to think critically about making healthy choices in relation to Canada's Food Guide, to strengthen financial literacy skills by analyzing the cost and benefits of purchasing different meal options, while also providing students with choice and flexibility to creatively design a menu, including some of their favourite foods, and foods from their own culture, to represent and celebrate all of the students in the class.” Amanda Truelove (she/her) Elementary H&PE Educator "The Common Cents: Financial Literacy Challenge is a great opportunity for me to increase my students’ understanding of financial basics. This challenge encouraged me to use the Wallet Wellness activities that include curriculum expectations from the H&PE, Math and language curricula. Making healthy financial literacy meaningful through lessons about our food choices and what impacts those choices are important skills and concepts for every student to learn. Making those connections and understanding the health and financial impacts of food we eat (e.g. making lunch at home for school or going out and buying it) is very important! Through the Wallet Wellness activities, I was able to provide students with opportunities to explore healthy living skills while considering how financial choices and decisions affect our overall well-being." Jason Stumpf (he/him) Elementary H&PE Teacher The lesson that has proven to be very well received by my students is the one where they compare the nutritional pros and cons of a meal they would typically buy at their favourite fast food restaurant. Their challenge is to find alternatives, but would have less fat, sugar and sodium and would cost approximately the same or less than their original choice. Just like any other purchase, they first have to ask themselves if they need this or they want it? Once their analysis has been completed, I tell them that they will pay for their meal with a credit card. This becomes a natural transition to using the Wallet Wellness Would You Rather Scenarios? Lastly, I ask my students to share their top three scenarios with their parents or guardians to start conversations at home about the different credit card options. Integrating financial literacy into the Health and Physical Education curriculum has proven to be very easy and authentic" Jen Powles (she/her) Secondary H&PE Teacher, Retired

Nous partageons certaines des expériences passées et des réussites de certains membres de notre équipe #EducatorsInAction avec le programme de certification des écoles saines, alors que nous nous tournons vers l'avenir et l'évolution de ce programme vers le programme de reconnaissance des écoles saines Shaun Vaillancourt il/lui En tant qu’enseignante responsable, j’ai vu mes élèves s’épanouir grâce au programme Écoles saines. Ils ont développé leur confiance, leur créativité et leur sens du leadership en travaillant sur des projets qui touchaient réellement leurs pairs. Ce programme favorise non seulement de saines habitudes, mais aussi un véritable sentiment de communauté dans l’école. Nous sommes vraiment enthousiastes à l’idée de pouvoir obtenir notre 5e certification – c’est motivant de continuer à bâtir sur ce que les autres élèves ont commencé avant nous
