Look, you can be a cis girl or woman and be interested in race cars, LEGO, dressing up like Han Solo, studying Electrotechnology, watching NFL or CFL football, and playing bass and drums.

Interests and vocations are not gender markers. Give yer heads a shake, folks.

My 16yo just signed up for a cert 2 in electrotechnology, in the hope of getting an apprenticeship and qualification as an electrician.

He wants to work in renewables.

The hardest part will be finding an apprenticeship, especially being a young gay kid.

On Dec 6, 1989, I was a tech writer at an aviation company, a grad of Electrotechnology at Vanier in Montreal. What happened at École Polytechnique still affects me so much. But let me say: Hey, young women interested in STEM? Go and pursue your ambitions. We need you in these fields.

Faster Charging, Longer Driving Range!
# Expected to enable longer EV driving ranges and fast charging while demonstrating the commercialization potential of environmentally friendly battery manufacturing processes Newswise — CHANGWON, South Korea — Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS), led by President Chul-jin Choi, announced that a research team led by Jihee Yoon of the Advanced Materials Research Division, in collaboration with a team led by Insung Hwang of Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), has developed Korea’s first shape-controlled graphite granule-based dry electrode manufacturing technology capable of producing high-performance batteries without using polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a key material in conventional dry-electrode processes. The technology is expected to extend electric vehicle (EV) driving range, reduce charging time, and accelerate the commercialization of next-generation environmentally friendly battery manufacturing processes. As demand for electric vehicles and energy storage systems (ESS) continues to grow, competition to develop high-energy-density batteries with longer operating life and faster charging capabilities has intensified. In particular, dry-electrode technology, which minimizes the use of organic solvents and drying processes during battery manufacturing, has emerged as a promising next-generation production method. Although dry-electrode technology offers significant advantages in reducing manufacturing costs and carbon emissions, most existing approaches rely heavily on PTFE, making the development of alternative technologies...

PTFE-free dry battery electrode could speed EV charging and extend range
A research team led by Jihee Yoon of the Advanced Materials Research Division (Korea Institute of Materials Science; KIMS), in collaboration with a team led by Insung Hwang of Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), has developed Korea's first shape-controlled graphite granule-based dry electrode manufacturing technology capable of producing high-performance batteries without using polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE), a key material in conventional dry-electrode processes. The work is published in the journal Energy Storage Materials. The technology is expected to extend electric vehicle (EV) driving range, reduce charging time and accelerate the commercialization of next-generation environmentally friendly battery manufacturing processes. Although dry-electrode technology offers significant advantages in reducing manufacturing costs and carbon emissions, most existing approaches rely heavily on PTFE, making the development of alternative technologies a critical challenge. PTFE serves as a key binder material that holds together the various components of a dry electrode. However, it may cause performance...
