Sweden is advancing an #emethane project in Varberg using renewable #hydrogen to produce electric natural gas (e-NG). The synthetic gas could replace fossil #naturalgas in existing infrastructure while cutting emissions and improving #energy security

If ICE is so dear to them:
Focus on biomethane/emethane engines.
You know, gasoline engines with methane gas injectors added to the cylinder head.

CO2 neutral ICE driving.

But also that is futile. No-one buys ICE in 2030.

So what exactly is the argument for eMethanol over eMethane?

There is already a substantial distribution infrastructure for Methane, and very little for Methanol

Both have a carbon atom which needs to be found somewhere

Is being a liquid really that important, to overcome so many existing assets?

We should also discuss the impact of the environment.

Even if Starship would start to use eMethane or bioMethane, the yearly fallout of 8Mkg of starlink waste is not healthy for the atmosphere.
And how many tons of lithium+cobalt is lost via every satellite?

Using biomethane or emethane is in practice a CO2 free energy source.

So, the move to use methane by Starship and New Glenn is a tiny move towards CO2 neutral rocket launches.

Etc.
Fossil fuels are too cheap in many countries.
For example our family cars run on methane and for us the biomethane...

Actually, Kinew should leverage the seawater in the Port of Churchill to manufacture our own carbon neutral fuels and be energy independent, have energy security, etc. Not one or the other, both can be good paths (eMethane, diesel, jet A, gasoline). www.aeonblue.ca & www.linkedin.com/company/aeon...
Aeon Blue
Aeon Blue leverages the wind and the sea to produce eFuels and capture and store carbon dioxide from the air.

e.g Atlas V, Vulcan Centaur and SLS burn aluminium as the booster fuel, it is hazardous e.g. vs ozone layer
+ Methane using rockets will be even less polluting and if biomethane or emethane is used, they can be CO2 neutral

But:
- Starlink is very bad. If it is built to 42 000 satellites, it will

They should start to buy & use eMethane.
July 11, 2025 at 3:44 PM
Might be better to forbid the use of solid fuel rocket boosters and mandate that only Hydrogen, Methane and RP1 are allowed as the fuel.

Then, later forbid also RP1 and advocate Green Hydrogen and eMethane/bioMethane.

Tokyo Gas and Teralta will co-develop #greenhydrogen–based e-methane in Canada, starting with a project in Manitoba using hydro-based #H2 and industrial CO₂. First exports to Japan expected around FY2030.
