What is it? Instead of voting for a single candidate, you would rank your candidates in order of preference! If any candidate wins a majority (50%) of first preference votes... they win! Nobody got 50%... what happens now? An instant runoff occurs! The last place candidate is eliminated. 2nd choice votes are instantly counted for the remaining candidates. This keeps happening until a candidate gets a majority! Why RCV? Ensures majority support, no more lesser of two evils voting, discourages toxic campaigning, allows us to vote for who we want without fear of "splitting the vote," you get to vote for somebody you want instead of against somebody you hate We don't have to settle for the lesser of two evils.
