I built my entire career on twitter, starting in 2008. Was part of an energytwitter community, studied dril's sacred texts, felt I made it when I had an official White House account. I pretty much stopped using twitter last year. But I posted this over there, & got 9 likes. Bsky is just better.
A sleeper political issue of the next few years is the rising costs of electricity. AI & data centers are driving up demand & the Trump Administration is making it harder to add clean energy supply. I joined @chrislhayes.bsky.social on #WITHpod to talk about it: open.spotify.com/episode/32ps...

It’s not that this joke wouldn’t land on EnergyTwitter, it probably would. It’s that I don’t care. 90%+ of my computer friends are active here, it’s more fun, has fewer trolls, no cybertrucks. EnergyTwitter is dead. It will live for a bit longer, first as LonkedIn, then MySpace. Long live energysky.
The problem is that the standard LCOS (levelized cost of skeleton) equation doesn’t account for non-market benefits and positive externalities, and uses a private discount rate that is higher than the socially optimum rate. That is why, in IRA2, the govt should amend Sec. 45Y to include skeletons.
The knowledge that the giant skeletons can cost $400 has shaken me to my core. That’s not a decoration, that’s a major fixed capital investment
