BizOps. Oh you had a thousand and one contractors and vendors supporting that game? Someone was hustling behind the scenes to get all of that paperwork squared away and they barely got a thank you for it
Gamedevs don’t get enough appreciation for what they do, and often the biggest impact comes from people the public never hears about.

Which gamedevs would YOU give an award to, and for what?

Carlisle Slauson (she/her) is a black bear and Director of BizOps for PredaTrac LLC. She's actually fine with eating her employees, just not You, since you'd be too much work to replace.

DEVASTATING: The dominant carnivore office lady who hired you to "fill an urgent opening ;3" wasn't flirting. She actually needed an intern and now she expects you to actually do work.

Been a steady slide since they got moved under BizOps in 09ish. Was basically a trial run for life under Windows leadership. They’ve had a decade to slowly replace enough teams with automation to make the business happy and this is the next phase

There's been a drive to businessify Xbox since around 2007 or 2008. By 2009 Xbox had been rolled into the BizOps division, and even then the business was trying to find every opportunity to cut not just jobs but infrastructure and projects

40% of respondents had been laid off, and another 28% had survived layoffs. That's nearly 3/4 impacted by layoffs. As a result 60% were considering other industries, including 70% of programmers and 80% of bizops.

It's remarkable watching an industry gut itself like this.

I was at a startup when he got elected and our batshit insane bizops guy left to go join the administration as their "cybersecurity coordinator". He did such a thorough job of pissing everyone off that they did a hit piece on him in the daily beast www.thedailybeast.com/white-house-...

Me when instead of doomscrolling the bizops team instead shares and does a bunch of logic puzzles for us to spend time on and collaborate instead

Spent the day using Google sheets with 03-mini yesterday.

I feel like a spreadsheet with an AI chat bot is going to eat a lot of vertical SMB SaaS apps. Especially in sales, finance, and bizops.

definitely this and reaping the benefits but logging into work daily on my 5 year old internal toolset held with sticks and strings that doesn’t get bizops attention bc we’re so small isn’t fun

I agree about the overhang. Pair someone who understands setting up AI agents with your bizops and back office teams and I think you’ll blow some minds with the efficiencies/capabilities.

A real moment for Domain Driven Design if folks are brave enough to grab it.

Sure but also I would bet a pint of my blood half of the organizations doing buildouts like this are ignoring the fact that 40% of the bizops systems are running on old iron or on cloud services that aren't properly backed up and impossible to restore, and instead building Shiny.

Comparing COO options on hourly cost misses how context is built. Outsourced operators handle tasks remotely, while a fractional COO embeds to own decisions and leave lasting structure. Details: https://bit.ly/fractional-coo-outsourced-against-fractional #FractionalCOO #BizOps #Startups #Scaling
