This is probably why they recommend rabies PEP in the UK after bat exposure? I had a conversation on here about it recently, I remember it was a rabies like virus that could put you at risk, but not being an epidemiologist, brain didn’t retain the name.

Please read a book that was written by an epidemiologist experienced with rapidly mutating viruses, not a website published by a nonmedical charlatan who became a multimillionaire by peddling antivax lies.

I am an epidemiologist and this is very standard for plague. We have several people in the US die from it every year

BTW given that you are actually a proper epidemiologist in the field of psychiatry/psychology and I am currently aspiring to be one when I grow up, there's a DAG here somewhere.

I predict a causal relationship with the show "Jackass" being aired and a variety of young men being injured.

problem, although your report notes that, this year, at least, the largest number of cases have been among 25-44 year olds. (I wonder what *their* booster rate is!)

Finally, while an epidemiologist would likely be able to model trends based on a low # of absolute cases (5 cases in the past 2...

epidemiologist (or a bacteriologist, re: diphtheria) - & I suspect you aren't either - but there is plenty of peer-reviewed literature out there that supports using antibody levels to assess diphtheria immunity, and both the CDC & WHO back this approach. Thus, It's really irresponsible to make...

Having to work my full time job as an epidemiologist, run my nonprofit, finish these book edits, and care for myself and my mother while she is in her 8th day at the hospital has really been the most stress I have ever been under. I pray all this work produces good fruit. That it all matters to God.

An American born epidemiologist being called a terrorist by a lesser educated racist because of their religion is peak Republican shit flinging.

The burden of infectious disease in China is shifting
Over the past few decades, China’s rapidly growing economy has led to a dramatic improvement in healthcare, housing and sanitation, helping reduce the burden of infectious diseases. But rather than a uniform decline across all infectious diseases and demographics, patterns of infection as well as the health impact of infectious diseases are changing. “China’s infectious-disease landscape is not simply shrinking. It is being reconfigured,” says epidemiologist Jue Liu of Peking University in Beijing. Liu’s team has used the latest data from the Global Burden of Disease study — a huge international programme that monitors health around the world — to track five major groups of infectious diseases between 2000 and 2023 in China1. They used two measures: incidence to track how often infections occur, and DALYs or disability-adjusted life-years, to track the impact of the diseases on premature death and disability. Consequential cases Over the measurement period, DALY rates fell in four of the five groups. Stomach and gut infections dropped sharply from 365 health years lost to 44 health years lost per 100,000 people. Respiratory infections and tuberculosis remained the largest source of health loss, but their DALY rate still fell by more than two-thirds. Upper respiratory infections were...

Asylum-seekers are people fleeing persecution, violence & other grave threats. The U.S. government is deporting numbers of immigrants to their deaths in countries they’ve never set foot in. “Is this what due process now looks like under the law?” questions epidemiologist & observer Margaret Handley.
Asylum court proceedings are a dystopian loop
For third-country removals, U.S. immigration courts demand that immigrants provide proof that they will be persecuted in a country they’ve never been to
