#Epimediums
The Epimediums are out in the garden on this bright, chilly spring day. Their delicate flowers on wiry stems are jiggling in the breeze.

Epimediums flowering in the nursery over the weekend. Mostly pinks/lilacs out before the other colours - although I just noticed there are some amazing yellow forms out in the garden already so hopefully the full range will be flowering soon.

Really pleased with how my bit of guerrilla gardening is coming on. This was bare soil covered in rubbish a few years ago. Now hawthorn, spirea, viburnum and Epimediums are thriving. 🌱

Just some of the cream epimediums I have in a widening group in my left hand rear border in the shadow of a very tall Irish yew. #gardening #gardeninglife #gardenersworld #epimediums

Along with cutting back Epimediums, it’s also the best time to cut back last year’s leaves from your hellebores. This exposes the beautiful flowers and neaten up the plant, before new leaves are grown in spring.

One of our tree circles is going to be refurbished with new plants, so spent the day digging up the Epimediums and Ferns and then transplanted them to another tree circle.

We love the Itoh hybrids. Well… TBH, we have issues saying no to ANY peony.

Or dahlia. Hydrangea. Camellia. Pineapple lily. Roses. Epimediums. Iris.

🌱The spring bed (dry shade) has really made a leap this year. The extra water really helped.

Job two: a little bit of everything to tidy this little private road. Including cutting away leaves if the Epimediums to reveal the flowers.🇬🇧🌱

It’s once again that time of year to cut back those Epimediums so that we get a chance to see those flowers in a couple weeks.

Epimediums make wonderful evergreen ground cover in winter. Now's the right time to shear them down to let the flowers and new leaves emerge in March. Left: over-wintered leaves on Epimedium 'Frohnleiten'. Right: Flowers and new foliage on Epimedium x warleyense.
