Zebra finches (male on the left) at the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden at Port Augusta. I hope to be back there in a couple of weeks. The cafe has the most yummy quandong thickshakes 🙂

👍 Great guess! They are both estrildid finches (family Estrildidae). The SF or Red Avadavat, is however found in tropical Asia, whilst ours is from Australia. Here's the SF, for comparison:
