I'd love to see Gouldian Finches in the wild one day, they actually look like they've been dabbed all over with bright acrylic paint! #finch #finches #gouldianfinch #drawing

Just couldn't get a decent focus on this male Red Crossbill (Loxia curvirostra). Notice his buddy hanging upside down in the top corner. 😀 Somewhat uncommon around here but this fall is shaping up to be an invasion year. #BirdingHungary #crossbills #BirdsSeenIn2026 #finches

For Rob's #BirdOfTheDay theme #BestOfOctober, any bird captures you think are your best from October. Here is one of Darwin's Galápagos Finches, a ground finch, sighted in October in the #Galápagos Islands. #birds #birding #birdphotography #nature @robcrank68.bsky.social #BirdsSeenIn2026 #finch

I forget how small they are tbh. Not really finches, actually tanagers. But tiny ones!

A few birds arriving in off the sea at Newton Pool this morning, mainly thrushes but a few finches and Skylarks too. Best of the bunch was a nice Mealy Redpoll, later trapped and ringed. Also lurking was a Cetti's Warbler, seen 4 here now, all in late Oct/Nov.

A decent day with a few bits, mostly thrushes and finches, coming in throughout the day. The best being 3 Woodlark and a Lapland Bunting west while 2 Woodcock, a Siberian Chiffchaff, 9 Firecrest and 2 Hawfinch (briefly in Trapping Area before flying north) were also recorded. #kentbirding

Mesmerising vismig on the DFDS ferry from IJmuiden yesterday evening. Standing on the rear deck after dark, listening to an endless stream of redwings, starlings, finches etc attracted by the light. This water rail caught a lift in a quiet corner. Ship assisted rail migration is a thing, apparently.
