While the production seems to have let itself down with some costume/ritual adjacent historical inaccuracies, the Joseon monarchy was only one element of inspiration for a story that was clearly marketed as a fantasy, in a kind of #PrincessHours fused with #EternalMonarch direction

#EternalMonarch was fun when I watched it, but it was among the first tranche of kdramas I binged when I first discovered them, so I don’t know how it would stand up now.
