This week's board game was Mosaic: A Story of Civilization, and it's what it says on the label: players build their civilizations around ancient Mediterranean Sea. Cities are founded, wonders are built and technologies are developed! A pretty fascinating eurogame!

Welcome to the jungle, we've got fun and games. But not lame games like Monopoly and Uno. The Jungle is hardcore Eurogame territory. Don't come to the jungle unless you want games at least as hardcore as Terraforming Mars.

Thought of the day: Every Eurogame with a colonialist theme could be reset to Europe from the perspective of the Huns, Vandals or Romans

This. A thousand times this. It should be tattooed on the insides of the eyelids of every heavy eurogame designer.
22. The actions you take in games should have consequences, both for the player and for the game. Pull on it hard enough, it breaks: that tension makes the game exciting. If the rubber band always snaps reliably back into place, I don't see the point of the thing.
