I would have agreed once, but as I get older, it seems to me more tidy than true. Fantasy, in its contemporary iteration, seems to me a Northern/Western EuropeanAmerican genre distinction. Other cultures’ folklore has been folded into it, but I feel like that is a dislocation of other traditions.
