This is proper advertising for a hiking trail: There's Spoods Here

There is no spider here

But if there was, it would be a Eustala anastera boy 💚

Eustala are usually masters of blending in during the day when they're hiding out, but this boy... No. I love him though.

Eustala - #Arachtober 18
Another spider I can't get IDed past genus. Related to the Humpback Orbweaver.

Eustala anastera boys remain some of the prettiest spoods you'll ever see. Little leggy lichen lads 🥹

A couple of very good spoods I found in the house this weekend.

Left is a Running Crab Spider (in the Philodromus genus), and right is a Humpbacked Orbweaver (Eustala anastera)

Quick walk in my back yard provided this lovely eustala lass with a nighttime snack. Carry on, friend 💚🌿🕷️

Can't get more #Arachtober than Eustala Orb Weaver on a pumpkin!

Love the mossy camo color on this one! (I love all of them, who am I kidding?)

Lovely! Eustala are the prettiest! No contest!

One of my favorite things from Twitter was my long-running 80+ tweet thread of lovely eustala orb weaver booties. Kinda want to start it again over here at some point. In the meantime, here's one of my favorite color morphs, from this evening! 💚🤍

Humpbacked orb weaver (Eustala anastera) / tomato plant

Out back in August, the rainy, mild season grew the striped tomatoes wild and thick, home to all sorts of such local characters.

Freshly-molted flying land squid 🖤
Eustala sp orb weaver found finishing up her molt, early this year. A lovely sight. 🕷️🌿

Eustala 🤎💚
Some of my favorite little orb weavers, the prettiest lumps. Wouldn't be #Arachtober without them.

Eustala understand setting and presentation like few other spiders do (and some humans. Hi, I'm some humans). They seem to love the colors and vibe of tarflower (Bejaria racemosa) in winter. I do too. ❤️

Evening #Arachtober post.

Be ready for many Eustala Orbweaver pics this month! They are teeny and PERFECT and come in a variety of colors to boot!

This lump remains my favorite eustala color morph (or species? Who knows with this genus); I love that mossy shade of green on her booty, and that white arrow on top is just perfect. They're so pretty. 💚🌿🕷️

Perhaps the only eustala species (emertoni) I'm reasonably confident ID-ing to species, I spot so many of these in grasslands/savannah habitat. Color shades vary some, but are otherwise very consistent in appearance. Juveniles can be bright red, which is fun: www.inaturalist.org/observations...
