Worth noting as well that Robert McGinnis was OLDER than #EvanHunter / #EdMcBain. Both were born in 1926, but McGinnis had seven months on him, then outlived him by nearly twenty years. What a long and creative life.

Farewell then, Robert McGinnis. He wasn't the first artist on #EdMcBain's #87thPrecinct series of books, but from the second printing of the early stories in the early sixties, and going forward, he was used.

One of #EdMcBain / #EvanHunter alter egos, Richard Marsten, got a profile in Manhunt in November 1954.

This reminds me of #EvanHunter / #EdMcBain and his wish to sue the creators of Hill Street Blues over similarities to his #87thPrecinct series.

He contaced his lawyers who basically said, "This will cost you at least $500,000 and you'll probably lose" at which point the author, wisely, backed off.

Every time someone wants to sue over multiple pages of “similarities” like “our heroes are both sexy” “our heroines are both from the same state,” I always say that it is a bad idea and you will lose and it will cost you a lot of money.

I wish I could find a digital copy of some of the war stories #EvanHunter wrote. In this issue of this particular magazine, EH has a 'feature-length novel' under his own name *and* a 'feature-length novel' under the name of Hunt Collins as well.

There's lots of sharing of book covers today, because it's World Book Day (although I think that's almost uniquely a UK thing. Maybe it's like the World Series, I dunno).
