There is what FILIPINOS call kolonyal, a mindset that exists among the colonists that they brought civilization and took resources as payment.
It is actually a form of scam and protection racket. Portuguese and Spanish deal is to enslave, for farming sugar, spice and rice.. dig for gold and silver.

I really enjoyed the music choices and the animation styles (and how they were used and change) throughout the film. I hope to find other Filipinos/Filipino-Americans who saw it and share thoughts with them. 🇵🇭

"Armados de banderas de España" como si quienes acampan fueran filipinos...
Que quieren echarlos, que les molestan muchísimo. Pero ¿por qué?
Si aplauden al paso de un chivo tampoco se les puede pedir mucho más, digo yo.

Such a gaspworthy scene is antithetical to how the majority of Filipinos would respond to an injustice, that to say, to passively suffer in silence, to play the crucified martyr, to bear things patiently with "dignity", and to weep before candlelit domestic altars/shrines whilst trying to "forgive".
It's comparable, I'd say to the ancient Greek rhesis or a highly elevated recitation one makes in Chinese opera. And it's very formulaic in Philippine scriptwriting, where an injustice or a wrong automatically triggers a dramatic declaration or assertion of self from the person wronged or hurt.

I'm also a foreigner and I guess many Filipinos feel uncomfortable to see a foreigner do housework. It's like, a lack of hospitality. My wife told me once that me doing the dishes is "embarrassing" for her sisters. 🤷‍♂️

Ube extract in milk tea and milk in general is funny (NON JUDGEMENTAL) I just think its milk ². Ube extract is from Ube halaya, which is how filipinos prepare ube as a desert- as in ube boiled in condensed milk for a very long time.

HOW GEN Z WILL REDEFINE ADULTING IN 2026
For Gen Z, adulthood isn't necessarily about following the same checklist as the generations before them. The goals may still be familiar, including financial stability, good health, a fulfilling career, and eventually a home of your own, but the path to achieving them looks different. For young Filipinos, "having it together" increasingly means finding meaningful work, building financial independence, staying healthy, and working toward home ownership while navigating the financial realities of everyday life.
