reign = royal sovereignty

rein = the strap used to control a horse

rain = water falling from the sky

The phrase is “free rein,” not “reign,” because it’s about letting your horse run around however it wants to. To get something under control is “to rein it in.”

yes and the third-placed team gets a spoon

Presumably the winner gets the cup and the runner up gets the saucer ?

Target sent me another letter in the mail about how I haven’t been there in over a year, but I will carry this grudge to the GRAVE.
Black folks lent their cool to Target. We said we’re about to make the bargain store our chic boutique, & everybody else bought it. Target has no cool without Black people. They thought they were cool for themselves? LOLZ!

I was thrilled when the pleated pants of my youth gave way to flat-front pants with clean lines. However, millennial men are wearing pants that are *way* too small for an office environment. They’re too tight and short! It looks like you are wearing a child’s pants!

Higgins and I missed you!

Higgins pretty much exclusively either sphinxes or curls up in a ball. I’ve never seen him sploot. Here’s a photo of an incredibly rare loaf.

One year, a grandma-looking woman in an abaya with a HUGE smile on her face came by. I could tell she was new to the country, and someone had explained this custom to her, and she didn’t believe it, but everybody was giving her candy and she was having the time of her life.

If you reminisce about watching Fraggle Rock as a kid, I know you grew up rich because that shit was on HBO.

We’re hoping she left her phone on the car and it fell off.

We have contacted the local police, state patrol and have left messages with colleagues. There doesn’t appear to be any accidents/emergencies reported at that location/time.

We’re just waiting to hear back from someone/anyone to confirm.
Do I have any mutuals in/near Philadelphia? My mom is there on a trip.

We got a crash notification from my her phone on I-95 near the airport and the phone location is still there. We have not been able to reach her.

If anyone can help, I’d appreciate it.

I want young people to know that you used to just be able to buy something and then you would own it. You paid once, and then you used the thing until you didn’t want to anymore. This included software! Life doesn’t have to be like this. It wasn’t before.
In January 2023, I bought a Microsoft office “lifetime license“ for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote. Today, Microsoft won’t let me save an Excel spreadsheet onto my own hard drive unless I purchase a subscription to Microsoft 365. This is why everyone hates corporations. All they do is cheat us.

Birdsong and human language share a surprising mathematical pattern that appears while young Bengalese finches are still learning.

For everyone acting like I’m stupid for not “just using Libre office,” I need my stuff to be Microsoft compatible, and also, I fucking paid for a lifetime license!

I actually miss the quirky accounts clearly run by humans, such as Orkney Library. People doing a serious thing, having fun and somehow getting away with it and succeeding.

I miss defragging the hard drive, because it showed you a picture of the file fragments whizzing around, and it felt like it was really doing something, and your computer really would get faster afterwards.

I think about this all the time. I literally cannot afford to install solar panels on my house. The government should be putting solar panels on everybody’s house!
We should be putting a gargantuan amount of money into solar and storage. War economy levels. It should be free to have a guy from the government solar your house up. Electricity should basically cost nothing.
