FONV: I don't know what I can say about it that hasn't already been said, but it really opened my eyes to the idea of what a game could be like, and while I don't subscribe to the "omg greatest game of all time" stuff, it definitely affected me to play it and not just for the trans meme reasons ;)

The thing your mentioning isn't real. At no point did they fight to refuse absorption. They had contract disputes regarding the IPs. They begged to make FONV 2 and spinoffs of Skyrim.
So any source you have to this thing you "feel" would be awesome.

But also, I was that autistic kid who played GBA Fire Emblem, Breath of Fire, pined after Tales of Phantasia reading about it in Nintendo Power. Valkyrie Profile, FFT, I loved it. But, they didn't have dialogue trees like KOTOR2 or FoNV, or ability scores like DnD. But why couldn't they?
