I usually keep an older Android device in each vehicle, typically turned off, with an OBD2 adapter and some diagnostic software, such as Torque Pro, FORScan, etc.

It’s everywhere, even in my Ford Transit. All it took to enable factory cruise control, which it didn’t already have, was adding the steering wheel buttons for cruise control and a bit of tweaking in FORScan through an OBD2 interface.

From what I’ve been reading, it seems like the truck enables a PWM to dim the lights for various reasons. That signal is the wrong voltage for the LEDs, causing the flickering.
I might be able to fix it by using FORScan to update the ECM to use the appropriate voltage, but I have no idea. 😅

If you own a car just get a FORScan thingie for it. Source a bootloader for it. Get in there, stick a few fingers in there for fun with it. Get to know your car better. Flip some settings and see what happens. Enable Canada DRLs or change the transmission, what can go wrong

I finally ordered myself a proper USB OBD2 reader though, so I can plug my laptop running FORScan into it.
You know, I just fucking refuse to pay the dealership $250 to have some service manager plug a tablet in for 3 minutes and say "yeah, it was a transient voltage drop, probably nothing."

time to time. But this time it doesn’t seem to be going away.
