It’s time to face the fact that all mortgages are a scam in the first place. You do not own your home with a mortgage, the bank does. Even with a 30 year mortgage, if you’re the median age of FTHB in America, you’d be 68 when you paid it off.

Hi, risk analyst at a bank here. Banks already buy treasuries from the treasury though? Forcing them to do it at a 1% rate, the immediate consequence would be less lending for consumers as they have less money to lend out for FTHB, cars, etc.

Your post literally says “perfect candidate.” Kamala was pretty far left, massive help for FTHB, paying family members for caregiving, building on green energy initiatives created by the infrastructure act. We would have kept the ACA, Medicaid, SNAP, USAID funding. We would have moved forward.

He's the only politician I have seen saying anything remotely like this. sounds more warning to home owners relying on equity to temper their expectations vs telling future FTHB to wait for incomes to go up. NO politician is going to admit we're in for a housing crash until it's clear to everyone.
Less than impressed w our new housing minister facing this question, but Carney indeed knows. Listen to entire answer or this quote at 23:34 "core issue for younger Canadians, for all Canadians is that the level of house prices goes down relative to their incomes, so the affordability goes up."

Also of note a lot of grants allow you to obtain additional assistance, and you can stack. So if your city also offers fthb assistance and you qualify, you can apply with them and have a habitat for humanity grant. It can help a lot for people who don't have a down payment.

My husband and I were very much looking forward to the 25K FTHB help. There's no affordable housing where I live. Our rent equals the mortgage of a 300K house. We can't save for anything. She was going to build houses too. She was the one that talked about the housing crisis.

the FTHB savings account is a double edged sword. Yes, it helps people save money, but if there's more money available by someone to offer to buy a home without having increased the supply of homes to be sold, all we've done is increased the price of what available homes will go for.

There are a lot of programs for FTHB that give 3 year 5% forgivable assistance the problem is taxes and insurance not the rate
