Because Hegseth with his thinking is not a minority. I'm reading a lot of SciFi books and most of the writers of military SciFi are former marines. They all share the same cowboy/macho mentality and disregard for "top brass" who are "pencil pushers" and don't know "what it really takes to get things done". "Let us loose and we will solved it or own way". Hegseth is not the cause, is the product of that mentality.
