I’d much prefer another psychedelic animated Beatles film à la Yellow Submarine to those shitty looking biopics. They could even use the same actors to voice the Fabs if they couldn’t find anyone better.

Rotation: AI capex optimism meets risk-off. TSMC weighs Texas fabs; each could cost ≥$20B, contingent on extending the tax credit due to expire end-2026. Q4 Brent forecast: $90.22/bbl vs $78.92; credit spreads widened 5bp to a six-month high. Watch Hormuz and TSMC. #$TSM #AI #Oil

My favorite Beatle, Billy Preston, appeared on The Nat 'King' Cole Show in 1957, long before any TV footage of the Fabs! The show was short-lived because ad agencies refused to sponsor a Black star, thanks to Jim Crow in the south.

Could the AI era mean a reboot of more traditional Silicon Forest activity…? – Portland Oregon startups, tech, news, events, jobs, and community
Silicon Forest is an admittedly odd moniker. (Says the guy with an even more oddly named blog.) But it’s also fitting. And it’s a reminder that fabs and wafers and lithography and embed…

The semiconductor talent story goes far beyond the fab. 🏭🧪 Chemicals, specialty gases, filtration, ultrapure water, and contamination control all need specialized talent. We mapped the hidden workforce behind the U.S. buildout. 🔬👇

The hidden workforce behind America's semiconductor fab buildout
TL;DR What workforce problem is being overlooked in the U.S. semiconductor expansion? Fabs depend on a second-order semiconductor labor market outside their own payrolls: the engineers, chemists,

I don't think the demand for compute is going anywhere now that it is suddenly able to do so much more. The datacenters, the cards, the fabs producing them all, will all find ready use, but the true railroads are the arxiv papers we wrote along the way.

4. Santa Clara's cheap electricity once attracted actual factories, like IC fabs. Do the current data centers use more power than they did?

Update: had a chat with one of our supplier reps about SSDs and yes, that's the reason they believe, too: these are all made by the same fabs that make DRAM, and those fabs are all tied up with DRAM for datacentres.

Homegrown CUDA alternatives are exactly what the controls are meant to force. The catch is TileLang still needs the fabs to run on. Software is the cheap half of this race.

Wondering if production constraints for any silicon is to blame. I don't genuinely track who fabs both.

I have noticed that inflation on consumer and enterprise parts that aren't silicon aren't nearly as bad: cases, PSUs, displays, etc seem reasonable.
