A landmark space telescope mission to explore the history and evolution of the universe will draw on Cardiff astronomers expertise.

NASA is building a billion-dollar space telescope called Prima using James Webb leftovers, including a spare mirror and Cardiff detectors. This mission explores far-infrared wavelengths, maps star formation across cosmic history, and hunts for water in planet-forming disks. Using passive cooling instead of complex cryocoolers, it faces a ten-year deadline with high stakes. Subscribe for updates on this groundbreaking project!
