This is kinda cool. A project called F1 RACE REPLAY which allows you to watch an F1 race from above using telemetry from the FastF1 python package! cc: @jakearchibald.com

Ok, I took the leap 😬

I’ve opened @fastf1.bsky.social, a new page for all my motorsport ramblings. Hoping to expand on it as time goes on. Do come join me if you’ve enjoyed any of my #F1 bits n pieces.

My F1 race posts and the like will now be on this new page.

It's using the data from the F1 website (the live timing part) which is later stored and can be pulled and processed with some python code, if you want to have a go, look up fastf1 github.com/theOehrly/Fa...

#QatarGP has finished! 🏎️

Been playing with the FastF1 #Python library to look at track temperature and wind from the last two editions - 2023 had incredibly high temperatures!

Qatar never disappoints: Sainz finished an impressive P3 💘🤴🏆🏆🏆

As I have a life again I'm messing around with my plots again.
So as I update them to work with the fastf1 changes be prepared to be slowly bombarded with plots 😂

A lot of it is stuff I've calculated using the fastf1 package in Python, some of it's just from manual tracking

oh and yes!!! i did find a way to grab the full audio files from f1tv and im now pairing that with the lap time data from fastf1.

the f1tv files are all synced exactly to the world feed so the offset that works for one works for all of them which is super nice! all i have to do is verify the

Hey everyone!

Welcome to ‘FAST.’

This is the home of one guys musings concerning all things #F1 and #motorsport. Mostly F1. I’ll be diving into news, topics and the madness of the #FormulaOne world, with a focus on the design, detail and science of it all. I hope you enjoy. 🙂

so there wouldn’t really be a way to match the lap times to the radio times.

but if i can get the full length onboards (even just the audio?) i could pull the lap start/end times from fastf1 or openf1 or something and match them 🤔

I've been playing with some F1 data in Jupyter notebooks this weekend, using the FastF1 library and data store.

One thing I find fascinating is how a plot of drivers' lap times across a race - ordered by average lap time - can be so out of sync with the actual finishing order on track.

for the curious lol. this is held together by hopes, dreams, python and a bunch of json files connected to a notion database.

whisper runs a transcription, and then i have a script that grabs lap times from fastf1 and applies them to the transcript. THEN i have a bunch of correction scripts that

#GeorgeRussell was the slowest in 2026, but he’d still be second in 2025!

Bring on #Monza, #Baku, #Mexico and #LasVegas!

Which track will have the highest top speed?

I've been working with some Jupyter notebooks for exploration like this, which you can see if you're interested at github.com/matt-bernhar... .

Many, many thanks to everyone involved in FastF1, btw - without that resource, none of what I'm working with would be possible.
