The Amiga did recently get a proper conversion - but it requires an A1200/030 with FastRAM to get the most out of it. There is a version that's slightly cut-down graphically on the way for the vanilla A1200.

..and *finally* the A1200 died. 😭
Found someone in a neighbouring town with an A4000 he was willing to sell. A 25MHz stock 030 wasn't fast enough for me, so I was able to find an Apollo 040 board with SCSI and FastRAM and then a PicassoIV GFX card. It was a beast. But *needed* WHDLoad for old games.

Ah well I had a friend who had an A1200 too, and he got a 40MHz 68030 accelerator for his. I ran unexpanded for a while, quickly ran out of hd-space, so upgraded the drive (maybe three times in the time I had it) 😄, and got a simple FastRAM expansion, which actually gives the stock 020 a good boost.

Interesting Amiga 500 with an internal hard drive mount that hangs off the keyboard. It also has a DKB MegaChip for 2MB of ChipRAM. Nice!

We actually artificially extend loading screens so players have time to read the tips (I also think it helps give players a rest moment and helps with synthesizing information) but it genuinely never crossed my mind to just require a keypress to move on 🙃

I used it as a CD-based Amiga 1200 using the SX32 expansion board. I had a 320MB HDD installed. 8 MB RAM, 3.5" Floppy, Printer, A1000 keyboard and a beefed up PSU. It was great...... SX32's are very expensive these days, but i'd recommend a TF328 expansion as the 8MB FastRAM will boost the speed.

Conqueror (Tank) was the other game like it. BTW - Zeewolf really benefits from being ran on a A1200 with some FastRAM. So much smoother.

Since both Agnus and Gary sockets are in the line of fire, bit the bullet and replaced them. Did Agnus first, with no dice. Did Gary next, which was a lot less fun, but finally got further. Now detects 2k of chipram, but running out of the end of chipram or fastram gets me to the main menu.

Why was the A1200 a joke ? My biggest issue with it was it having no FastRAM out of the box. Could easily be added to double the speed of the system. CPU expansions were abundant if a little pricey and CD-ROMs took off in the AGA era.

I'm always juggling my computers around, one day when my kids move out I'll have a room full to play with. The A600 is fantastic, I really love the size of it, you should get yours down and have a play!
Mines got 2MB Chipram (1MB upgrade), 4MB Fastram and a 4GB Compact Flash (via IDE interface)
