Icon of #SaintStephen, n.d., by #SuzanneSchleck (American, contemporary), www.schleckicons.com/iconsofsaint... #StStephensDay #FeastofStStephen #artherstory #womenartists
An icon in a rectangular frame depicting a male figure in a white robe with wide sleeves and a maroon and gold band at the neckline that extends to drape down his left side (maybe an orarion?). His right arm is bent at the elbow so that his hand is in front of his right breast; from it dangles a gold-colored censer. His left elbow is also bent so that is left hand is in front of him; the hand is hidden by a red-colored cloth, on top of which sits a miniature church.

Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the Feast of Stephen
When the snow lay round about
Deep and crisp and even
Brightly shone the moon that night
Though the frost was cruel
When a poor man came in sight
Gathering winter fuel.
