Could very well be some juvies amongst the crowd since the smallies I see in your video have some resemblance to this feeder-submitted pic of a juvie northern flicker (presuming yellow-shafted variety)

Evidently, I am not alone in pondering the comings & goings of siskins.

"When siskins appear after a long absence, many #FeederWatchers wonder where these gregarious finches came from and, following the winter, where do they go?" -

So were they scared off or did they migrate?

Pine Siskins are an irruptive species, meaning they do not follow a typical north-south migration, their movements are erratic, nomadic, & entirely driven by northern conifer & birch seed availability -

It's great watching the @birdsoftheworld.bsky.social live feed at Sapsucker Woods because it's proof that starlings are pricks and invade bird feeders everywhere.

Great talk and excellent use of the FeederWatch dataset by @gavinleighton.bsky.social. Gavin handled a wayward question perfectly: his estimand was causally identifiable, so entertaining alternative hypotheses doesn't change the causal inference. Great work, Gavin! #AOS26 @amornith.bsky.social
