I’m not very familiar with Venda, but I imagine there’s no actual contrast, i.e. the ejectives are strictly allophones of the plain series. Ejectives popped up in Kinyarwanda (Nitwa [niːtkʷʼa] Darin ‘I’m Darin’) in a fieldmethods course I did with my colleague @exolinguist.bsky.social this past year
