I have no opinion on this specifically. But please, please sync back the SID to the group object in Entra ID for any groups written back to AD - so that the cloud groups can be used for Cloud Kerberos-integrated Azure Fileshares.

To quickly deploy an SMB server with signing supported we implemented this in impacket's smbserver.py based on a prior work by @lowercasedrm.bsky.social .

It's been there for fifteen years and isn't in trouble, but they do keep creeping social media features in.
I remember the days of this being Windows Media Server and Xbox modding saved us with XBMC. Switched to Plex when MKV became standard and it couldn't open. Long ways from MIRC fileshares.
