An Italian accordion/tarantella version of Dude Looks Like a Lady at the beginning of Coppola’s AI generated Godfather 4 and it’s sung by the uncanny computer version of the same old guy who gestures to his crotch while singing about horny fishwives in the first one.

Imagine the outcry if they cut breast cancer funding.
Kicking Men Where It Really Hurts
As I’ve written before, the vengeful harpies of modern-day feminism cannot endure even the vaguest suspicion that men might have something they don’t. The same women demanding (rightly enough) that perverted men in dresses stay out of women’s spaces have spent decades demanding that women be allowed into men’s spaces. Men’s clubs, the Boy Scouts, boys’ schools, even Men’s Sheds, have been steadily co-opted by the same women who shriek like fishwives when men do the same to them. The feminine vengeful double-standard goes even harder in healthcare. The same government-funded website that unequivocally cheer-squad women demanding a female doctor, hedges the idea of men choosing a male doctor with a list of qualifiers. There is a Royal Women’s Hospital, but not a Royal or any other kind of men’s hospital. Even explicitly male health charities like Movember have been taken over by women, with their funding redirected from specifically male conditions such as prostate cancer, to the mental health industry that overwhelmingly caters to women. Now, one of the few funding programmes for men’s health has been quietly stripped of funding by the federal government. Canberra, under the stewardship of Prime Minister **Anthony Albanese** and his cohort of managerial Mean Girls, has apparently decided that the male citizenry requires yet another administrative kick to the nether regions. Under the guise of progressive rationalisation, the federal executive has pulled the financial rug from beneath the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, abruptly evaporating the Commonwealth backing that sustained nearly a hundred specialist nurses. These clinicians were the thin line keeping over 300,000 Australian men afloat after navigating the terrors of our most commonly diagnosed male malignancy. One looks in vain for an equivalent bureaucratic bloodbath in the sprawling, plushly carpeted corridors of female-centric health campaigns. Consider breast cancer, the absolute darling of the philanthropic establishment, complete with its own corporate palette, broadcast cricket pageantry and a public relations apparatus so bloated it makes Vatican opulence look like a monastic cell. While breast cancer charities swim in an embarrassment of financial riches, other afflictions – brain, lung and prostate – are left rattling the tin cup outside the cathedral doors. Yet, with a stroke of Orwellian brilliance that would make the Ministry of Truth blush, Canberra managed to style this defunding as a philanthropic triumph. The official press release chirped that the McGrath Foundation, a breast cancer-focused charity, was graciously absorbing prostate nursing into its all-encompassing empire. Not a solitary syllable was spared to acknowledge that a decade of specialised PCFA expertise was being executed on the gallows at the very same moment. As National MP Llew O’Brien aptly observed during a parliamentary interlude last September: > “It’s simple: lose the nurse, lose the expertise and lose the service.” And, one might grimly append, lose the man. The statistical reality hovering over these afflicted gentlemen is sobering indeed. Men diagnosed with prostate cancer face a 70 per cent spike in the risk of suicide, a figure that more than doubles should the malignancy metastasise: that’s on top of men’s already-greater preponderance in suicide statistics. The majority of these tragic exits occur within the harrowing opening 12 months post-diagnosis. One is compelled to ask precisely what an organisation built by and for women will provide when a gentleman confronts the shattering reality of an assault on the organ most quintessentially masculine. The treatments for prostate cancer wage absolute war upon penile functioning. The ensuing spectres of erectile dysfunction and incontinence are not mere clinical inconveniences: they are systemic assaults on a man’s confidence, his domestic relations and his fundamental sense of self. Long-term epidemiological inquiries reveal a grim persistence of suffering. Years down the track, the vast majority of survivors remain sexually inactive or plagued by dysfunction at rates vastly exceeding their healthy peers, while incontinence lingers like an uninvited guest at the feast. As one afflicted soul lamented to observers, describing the hollow aftermath of medical intervention: > “This is not living… it is just existing.” To add insult to profound injury, the PCFA’s established network, delivering upwards of 150,000 consultations annually across more than a hundred regional and metropolitan outposts, was dismantled in favour of a 46 million dollar slush fund handed over to the McGrath breast cancer juggernaut, despite experts noting the original, dedicated programme cost a cool million less per annum to operate. The bureaucratic mind, allergic to genuine masculine utility and entirely subservient to the prevailing feminist orthodoxy, remains utterly indifferent. In contemporary Australia, male wellbeing remains an expendable line item, subordinated forever to the endless, insatiable appetite of the preferred institutional darlings. * * * 💡 ****If you enjoyed this article please share it using the share buttons at the top or bottom of the article.****

In 1937 #Newhaven, now part of #Edinburgh city, was working class. In 2026, it is an affluent middle class area, & the fishwives who lived in their Newhaven hooses in 1937, wouldn't be able to afford to buy the now privately owned hooses, or afford the mortgage.

They did indeed. Walking miles inland with those baskets weighing up to 40lbs. They had set routes and traded for farm produce at the farms they went to, so their load didn’t really get lighter for the walk home. One fishwives route not far from here is 13 miles inland 😳.

One of the great things about H&A's Newhaven Fishwives is they wrote the names of their subjects down. Marion Finlay, Margaret Dryburgh and Grace Ramsay are 3 of the 5 here and we see them - and others - again and again in their work, now in countless public photo collections across the globe

My wife's paternal line were Newhaven fishwives.

Don't know the date but this was "Granny" King with daughters Jean and Maidir.

Yeah, just doing the show and trying to not get cancelled is enough of a premise.

They could have Sam Eagle be an executive who’s always looking for an excuse to replace them with a cheaper “Reel Fishwives of Lake Superior” reality show.
