I did the IOTA contest from Flatholm few years ago - fascinating place. There used to be a Marconi room in the Sandbanks hotel down in Poole but I think that's gone :(

Oh wow. I live just down the road from Lavernock Point. There is a plaque celebrating Marconi’s first overwater transmission (to Flatholm island offshore) but they should really make more out of it! Barry and District ARS has a fairly impressive HQ up the road from there.

These are #FlatHolm and #SteepHolm. They were both swamped when the @GreatFlood swept up the coast of South Wales. They were originally joined to the #Mainland. #geography My book is available in all formats

Saw it off the coast opposite Tata Steel, Port Talbot this afternoon. It looked very out of place and we joked it was probably a U.S. invasion of Flatholm or Lundy Island.

I think it's a young seagull from context! i found it on Flatholm in the Bristol Channel, following the main seagull migration; lots of dead baby seagulls around who weren't quite able to make it :(
