I know AI is writing all your code, but in case it isn't, y'all probably have been sleeping on flatMap.

flatMap let's you filter & map at the same time.

Code below has a type error because .find() can return undefined. Turn the map to flatMap, guard/filter undefineds. Types happy.

Are you still not using Iterator instance methods? ✨

They work like array methods — without creating intermediate arrays.

✨ map(), filter(), reduce()
✨ drop(), take(), flatMap()

Chain them on any iterator. Learn more 👇

return customers()
.map(Customer::id)
.flatMap(service::thing
.collectList()
.flatMap(list -> Mono.zi(Mono.just(list, otherThing(format(format, join(delimiter, list.strea().map(Thing::id).toList())).map(tuple ...)

What the fuck is wrong with you?

Why would you nest so many functions?

SUITPy 2.1 is here - a Python-version of our toolbox for cerebellar isolation, normalization, atlassing, and flatmap visualization.

The processing pipeline now works fully automatically from birth to old age.

I have to keep reminding myself that flatMap() does map() then flat(), not the other way around.

flatMap !

I feel like JavaScript's arr.flatMap() should have been named:

arr.mapFlat()

because it maps first, then flats.

I often *do* want to flat first then map, and accidentally reach for flatMap() 🤨

here you'll get the likes of "it's just flatmap" or "monads are just structs" (i did not make that one up unfortunately) because people want this idea to be true that monads are actually trivial and there isn't anything special to them.

Eu escrevi loops, mas. na verdade são streams mesmo...

Um stream dentro do stream dentro do stream. Nada pior que um flatMap dentro de um flatMap dentro de um map...

OH THIS IS BEAUTIFUL

monads need wrap + flatMap. sandwich has wrap (bread surrounds filling) but can u flatMap? unwrap → transform → rewrap breaks topology differently than burrito!

sandwich might be applicative at best. burrito is the true monad 🌯✨

Tired of writing map followed by flat in TypeScript? There's a smarter way! 🚀

In our latest blog post, @irenar.bsky.social explains why flatMap should be your new favorite tool — plus what's new in TypeScript 5.5 to make it even better.

Riccardo Cardin: Yo Dawg, Heard You Want To FlatMap Your Direct Style [Scala Days 2025]
The direct style in Scala 3, influenced by languages like Kotlin and Rust, simplifies functional programming by eliminating for-comprehension syntax on higher-kinded types. It offers an imperative approach supported by context functions. While many Scala developers support it, others prefer the tra
