#FlintFriday
For #FlintFriday, an anonymous poem about an arrowhead , published in the Kirkintilloch Herald 100 years ago this week. I don't usually care for verse written in archaic language (even for 1926) but I like the conceit at the end that in some post-apocalyptic future these things might be used again…

🪨A Neolithic c.4,000-2,000 BC flint notched side scraper 29x33mm with retouch to the left edge. The right edge is smooth and was possibly used as a planer. A dual woodworking tool. Would also make a good blunt edge transverse arrowhead.

Lithics from the Esfarayen Plain, north-eastern Iran #FlintFriday

The first documented evidence of Lower Palaeolithic lithics east of the Central Iranian Desert, they fill a crucial gap in our understanding of early hominin migration into Central Asia.
