FoodLab Welcomes Brian Halweil as Farm and Greenhouse Manager - SBU News
The FoodLab at Stony Brook Southampton has appointed Sag Harbor resident Brian Halweil as its new farm and greenhouse manager, bringing to campus a nationally recognized leader in sustainable agriculture, food systems innovation and regenerative farming. Halweil joins FoodLab with nearly three decades of experience spanning farming, food journalism, agricultural investment, sustainability strategy and food education. In his new role, he will oversee the FoodLab farm and greenhouse operations while helping expand educational programming, community engagement and hands-on learning opportunities for students and the public. “Brian brings a rare combination of practical farming experience, food systems expertise and deep connections throughout the East End agricultural community,” said Judiann Carmack-Fayyaz, executive director of FoodLab. “His passion for educating others about where food comes from and how sustainable food systems can strengthen communities aligns perfectly with FoodLab’s mission.” A graduate of Stanford University with a degree in earth systems and a minor in biology, Halweil founded the Stanford Community Farm, a student-run organic farm that continues to operate today. He later worked with research farms at the University of California, Davis, before building a distinguished career focused on sustainable agriculture and food innovation. Most recently, Halweil worked with farmland investors, agricultural organizations...

So true, but FoodLab Detroit, that's the point to hurt, to harm, remember when Dump said his Presidency was about payback, America just didn't realize it was payback against the entire country. Dump hates America, and it's obviously clear now that he does.

New Community Garden at Stony Brook Southampton Grows Food, Connections and Health
A new community garden at Stony Brook Southampton is putting down roots, helping bring fresh, locally grown produce to East End families. Stony Brook University celebrated the opening of the Stony Brook Southampton Community Garden at The FoodLab on September 1. Built over the summer by students, apprentices and community partners, the garden will offer students hands-on experience in food production, sustainability and community service. The garden, a collaboration among The FoodLab, Stony Brook Southampton Student Life, the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center and community partners, was designed as both a learning space and a source of fresh food for local families. Produce harvested from the garden will support a produce prescription CSA program that provides community members with boxes of fresh, nutrient-dense, East End-grown fruits and vegetables, along with recipes offering ways to prepare and incorporate the produce into healthy meals. “This community garden reflects what we believe the future of the Southampton campus can be — a place where sustainability and wellness are not simply ideas we teach, but things we put into practice,” said FoodLab Executive Director Judiann Carmack-Fayyaz. The project brought together partners from across Stony Brook and the East End community. Among those who...
