A cyanotype collaboration with my wife who provided the color. I loved this print in blue, toned with tea, but this one tops them all!

Dyce's Head Light in Castine Maine. It's on a cliff up and back from the water surrounded by many floral bushes and trees. I took these years apart; the tall pine no longer stands.

I was thrilled to be gifted a 24 pound cannonball from the War Of 1812. It is British and was used in the defence of Fort George. (this will display magnificently with my 18 pound American cannonball)

Stepping back in time at Fort George. There’s something about these heavy stone walls and the misty Highland sky that feels like a scene straight out of a movie. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💨

Rob McConnell Interviews - JAY CAIRNS - The Ghosts of Fort George, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
What spirits might still walk the grounds of one of Canada’s most historic military sites? In this captivating episode, Jay Cairns explores the reported hauntings of Fort George, located in the picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake—a place where history and the paranormal seem to intersect. Steeped in the legacy of the War of 1812, Fort George has witnessed battle, loss, and moments that have left a lasting imprint on its grounds. Jay shares accounts of unexplained occurrences reported by visitors and investigators alike—phantom footsteps, shadowy figures, and eerie sensations that suggest the past may still be present. This episode explores the idea that locations marked by intense historical events may retain an energy or memory that continues to manifest in unusual ways. Are these hauntings residual echoes of history, or something more interactive and aware? And why do certain places seem to hold onto their stories more than others? Join us for a chilling and thought-provoking journey into one of Ontario’s most iconic sites—where the beauty of the present meets the mysteries of the past, and where the ghosts of history may still be standing watch.

I think it would be so cool to take a one-or two-week 18th Century Cooking Class in a kitchen similar to this reconstructed one at Fort George National Historic Site.

All that remains of Fort George, originally built by the British back in 1759 🌲 This moss-covered stone mound is tucked away inside Lake George Battlefield State Park, holding centuries of history from the French & Indian War and the Revolutionary War.[D1055]📷
