This is why the FOSS hardliners are always right
tech companies should not have this much power
Google is now threatening America's schools, saying they will turn off their core search functions if schools choose to entirely block AI.

In October we had updates to #LibreOffice, videos from events, stats from the project, a lifeline for Microsoft Publisher users, and more: blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2026/11... #foss #opensource #freesoftware

#LibreOffice 26.2.7 is now available. It's the last update to the 26.2 branch, and after this, all users are recommended to upgrade to 26.8: blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2026/11... #foss #opensource #freesoftware

The duality of man

1) Techlash slopulism is cringe AF and I will ally with Big Tech when necessary.
2) FOSS software is way more based than legacy IP bloatware, and shifting the ecosystem to FOSS options is ideal.

Long live FOSS.

Public code, public good.
It is mass psychosis that the MS Office suite is the standard for schools and governments when it is overpriced and sucks. Every open source Office suite is compatible with Word documents, has the same features and is free

We often talk about large-scale migrations to #LibreOffice, such as in the Austrian Military. But many small businesses are switching away from Microsoft, Google and other tech giants too: blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2026/11... #foss #opensource #freesoftware

i'm not one to shit on something without providing alternatives. if you're of the opinion of "genai is still, like, kind of good for programming right?" we don't need it actually! here's a moderated list of open source software you can use that is LLM-free

why is foss like this
November 2, 2026 at 6:09 PM
We need more people who aren't *just* software engineers, programmers, and the like actively working on foss software. we need people who live and breathe UX working on foss so badly

Thomsom Reuters was explicitly narrowed to that case, as the training there was viewed as *non-transformative*, and FOSS was explicitly creating a directly competitive market product.

i would recommend a locally hosted FOSS model for a use case like this. correlation engines are very helpful for organizing large data sets, but you don’t typically need a corporate model for that.
