And the fossil fuel industry. They lost big tonight.
Very much worth noting that among the biggest losers in this landslide so far: data centers, AI industry PAC recipients, and Elon Musk.

Long overdue for the UK to issue a fossil fuel phase out roadmap - rather than keep issuing more licences, aiding & abeting climate change mass murder

Brazil releases global roadmap for fossil fuel phaseout ahead of COP31
Countries have been urged to start planning now for the 'urgent, inevitable' – yet voluntary – phaseout of coal, oil and gas.

The U.S. fossil fuel industry poured hundreds of millions of dollars into this election and lost almost everything.

If that's not a hopeful climate story, I don't know what is.
Democrats won. Oil money lost.
Fossil fuel money remains one of the biggest obstacles to climate action. But last night proved it can be beaten.

"Fossil fuel money is one of the most powerful forces in American politics. It is the biggest obstacle we face in preserving a livable climate for everyone on Earth.
But it is not invincible."

Unconscionable. Fossil Fuel Appreciation Day should be on February 31st.

Solar. Beating expectations — time and time again.

Basically the opposite of loser “solutions” like DACCS, CCS, new nuclear, fossil fuel-generated hydrogen, etc.
Just made an update from "my" Solar reality vs IEA graph for an upcoming book called "Power to the People". The difference is still going strong...

I would be a political negligence to push BAAJA—a bill authored by the Republican-controlled Senate & top legislative priority of the fossil fuel industry—in the lame duck.

Instead, Democrats should reset the debate, centering it on renewable energy infrastructure, not fossil fuel concessions.

Updated this plot from our Monetary Dialogue paper, now with October inflation data.

Energy mix with a high fossil fuel share -> higher inflation = story of the past half-decade of fossil fuel wars.

So Alberta is banning Pride flags in schools, but "Fossil Fuel Appreciation Day" is mandatory? UCP government amended the Education Act with this gem:

Within the modeling framework, BAAJA very likely increases revenues in the fossil fuel and clean electricity industries, with larger gains for fossil fuels. On average, fossil fuel industries gain 10 times more revenue than clean electricity industries. Potentially relevant political consideration.

Monash Uni held a Climate Action forum today. The urgent need for a fossil fuel phase out was mentioned ONCE in a whole day of (some vg) talks. I couldn't help but wonder: Is being sponsored by 8 fossil fuel companies (per answer at Senate estimates) stopping Monash from raising real climate action?

tensions over geo-politics, finance and fossil fuels are running high at the geo-politics, finance and fossil fuel summit.

Meanwhile, BAAJA Sec. 1402 would hobble ability of future POTUS to prioritize green infrastructure over fossil fuel infrastructure. Need I remind you that we need to transition *from* fossil infrastructure *to* green infrastructure, not entrench fossil fuel incumbents & just layer on renewables?

I’m Ed, a public health communication scientist who works on climate change and fossil fuel pollution.

Did you know that fossil fuel pollution & the climate change it’s causing are arguably the leading preventable causes of death & illness in the world today?

The Liberals have once again put corporations over communities in their Fall budget.

Its biggest expense? A handout to big fossil fuel companies. Meanwhile it ignores childcare, healthcare, postsecondary education, housing, and affordability.

5. Decreased domestic fossil fuel demand for electricity decreases domestic fossil fuel prices.

6. Decreased domestic fossil fuel prices signal fossil fuel producers to reduce production (keep it in the ground), rather than shifting the displaced domestic fossil fuel use to exports.
